Saturn Has A Ring Around It...

Many moons know this to be true!

Yes, netsirK, I know you don't think much of "Saturn," but I think it's growing on me. XD Anyone have 44 cents to put on my iTunes account? Anyone? JUST 44 CENTS!! XD I want it!!

I mean, how could you not love lyrics like...

Heaven has a ring around you,
The angels sing a song over you,
Heaven has a ring around you,
If you don't see it, know that it's true!

:)

And the video... is really pretty... ish. :) the way Cooper looks in this video makes me associate "Saturn" with the first episodes of Bibleman... what? Can I help that with that haircut and those glasses, he looks like Willie Aames?

See for yourself. Except for netsirK. She showed it to meh in the first place.

Well, no matter what you think, I like it. Yes, the lyrics don't match their lips for the majority of the video. :( It kinda bothers me, but what can I do about it?

And what makes the song really pretty is how Cooper sings it, with this high voice I never thought any man, let alone John Cooper, could have accomplished.
It just gives the song this sort of... sentimentality, if you will.

Oh, yes! One more thing.

I know, it isn't clear. It's the amazing lop-sided school bus!! The wheels are level with the ground, but the chassis (or shell, or whatever the 'eck it's called) isn't!!

And thus, I close.

27 January 2009

Hmm...

Suddenly...
I felt my eyes
Pouring tears on me of liberty!
And I realized I was one
Who needed love and setting free!
My brother here, my sister there,
And the banquet host, His empty chair!
Forgiveness came, and sweet relief
And then I saw why He invited me
Tonight!
-- PC3, "Banquet Table (Part 3)"

You fall on your knees,

You beg, you plead,
"Can I be somebody else
For all the times I hate myself?"
Your failures devour
Your heart in every hour
You're drowning in your imperfection!
-- Skillet, "Imperfection"

Never reaching what I want to reach,

Never being who I want to be,
Blaming me when I fall and fail,
All my dreams, splintering,
Under my fingernails.
-- Skillet, "Fingernails"

And would I wash my hands again?

Would I deny my Savior when,
He hung Himself in public square?
Did not my silence put Him there?
-- newsboys, "God Is Not A Secret"

You want to, You want to

Soak my heart in gasoline,
Light a match and consume me,
Soak my pride in gasoline,
All of You and none of me.
-- Skillet, "Gasoline"

Sigh,

Let's be blunt.
I'm a little distracted,
What do You want?
Headaches and bad faith
Are all that I've got.
First, I misplaced the ending,
Then I lost the plot.
-- newsboys, "Lost The Plot"

Will you forgive?

Will you forget?
Will you live what you know?
He left His rights,
Will you leave yours?
You don't understand it,
Let it go.
-- newsboys, "Let It Go"

When all is said

And all has come undone
Restore the promise I made
When I was young,
Now unto Him who can keep us from falling,
Present us faultless before His glory, and
...
Breathe, oh Breath of Life,
Breathe on me,
'Til I'm resting in You.
-- newsboys, "Breathe (Benediction)"

Now you're probably wondering why I posted a whole bunch of song lyrics here. Well, because I felt I needed to do so.
It's a long story to be honest. See the lines of the last song I posted... the ones in bold? That sums up what happened to me recently pretty well.

And then my youth leaders swamped Facebook and are making me feel guilty, and as a result, I won't be on Facebook for a while.
I even disconnected my Twitter from my Facebook, so my "tweets" shouldn't update my FB status anymore.

And I did some other things... that I'm not disclosing here... yeah.

So I need prayer. Yes, prayer would be nice. :)
And there's something missing from this post...
There we go. :)

Gasoline

Don't be frightened or confused when watching this video... this IS Skillet! Just... old-school Skillet. Back when Cooper's voice was noticeably higher. He doesn't have the grit in his vocals just yet... back in '96. :P

"Gasoline," so far, is my favorite off their self-titled album.
Yup. That's the cover. A skillet. "We... were... named... after a frying pan."
:P

The one thing I love about the song itself is that weird sound that I think John is making around the beginning and in some other parts of the song. What? I like it.
As for the video, the camera just does not give Cooper any time with it! Like, maybe a second or two, with the rapidly changing frames, and the strobe it looks like they're using... well, it just makes it look more fast-paced.

But I love the video.
What say you?

Hai, all.
I'ma talk about something random...ish.

If you didn't know, I watch the TV show Hannah Montana. I actually like it, somewhat. I have two episodes that I really like.

One was a season two episode called "Cuffs Will Keep Us Together." To be honest, I only like it for the Jackson subplot. See, Jackson's being really, really bad, and Robby Ray gives him the silent treatment for the majority of the episode, and Jackson thinks Robby Ray's gonna give in real quick, but when he goes through with what he promised, Jackson starts getting frantic. My favorite part of that whole plot was when Jackson finally shapes up at the end.
"I'm just a kid, but I'm a kid who misses the sound of his Daddy's voice!"
Always hits me in a soft spot. :)

My other favorite is a season three episode called "Killing Me Softly With His Height," where Moley (sorry, Miley) is dating a boy named Connor. And his actor, Ryan Pinkston... he looks like a miniature JOHN COOPER!!!!!!!

This is what li'l Pinkston looks like:

And we all know Cooper looks like this:

Haha, I love this photo.
But if this photo doesn't convince you, how about this 'un?

Don't they look a lot alike?? O.O :P

And that's pretty much it. I wanted to get it off mah chest.

I know the name "Paul Colman" is a sensitive string to some of y'all right now. I'm hoping it isn't, but I've had this blog idea on my mind for a while.

All of you, hopefully, have heard "Fill My Cup," a classic PC3 song we heard on New Map Of The World and on radio stations in various places.
But... for most of you, I believe, this is the only version you've heard. I've heard a different version, one that plays in Aussie and New Zealand... and the lyrics are quite different.

For instance -- the first verse after the chorus for us:

Called on You lately,
Come on and rescue me,
I feel like a calender from another year.
This barren ground,
These bones are dry and ready.
I break bread and wine, but still I'm feelin' so empty.

And the "Aussie" version:

Come on You lately,
Come on and rescue me.
Been at You lately,
But I've been more at me.
Love is a lesson I never learned in school.
Sick in bed that day,
And so I play Your fool.

The chorus has no change, in case you wanna know. ;)

And the second verse. The "American" version:

Sick of this seesaw
Of going up and down,
I see the rescue,
But would I rather drown?
Love is a lesson I never learned in school,
I was sick in bed that day,
And so I played a fool.

And the "Aussie" second verse:

Sick of this seesaw
Of going up and down,
Promised consistency to You in my wedding vow,
Call me up, whisper in my ear,
I feel like a calender
From another year.

And the "Aussie" version also has a third verse that the "American" version lacks. And it's my favorite:

Talk to me without manipulation,
Shoot from your hip,
You'll shock the congregation,
Wake me up whenever supper's ready,
Break bread and wine, but still I'm feelin' empty.

And then... there was this little thing I saw on Paul's website. This verse isn't on the recording I have, and now I want it. :P But I think it replaces our "American" version's bridge... which would be:

I feel like (or light. It says both. ;) ) I could float right up to You
Like a bridge that's connectin' the water.

The verse I found... it says this:

I feel light I could float up to you weights and all
I feel like a bridge on the water connecting your shore
Start me up and let me fly with you
This barren ground these bones are dry and empty.

Yeah.

But now, back to the awesomeness of Jody returning. :D
It seems as though some of you have not been fans long enough to truly appreciate Jody. But then again, I should keep my mouth shut, seeing as I became a fan two years ago.
But then again, I've seen Jody on ONIP and RRHOF and his interviews on the latter and immediately knew of his awesomeness. :) He talked about poor Bethany, which was definitely bittersweet.

And all this talk of Jody reminds me of a certain caption on JfH...

And the winning caption? Can anyone guess it??

"A cold sweat ran down Bryan's back. Jody Davis had returned and he wanted back in the band!"

:D It's coming true! But replace Bryan's name with Pauly. And the photo with this one:

"Who's leaving the band?? YOU ARE!"
*sniffle* "W-w-what??" *cries*

The Older I Get...

And before you say a word, this isn't about the Skillet song itself.
It has to do with it, but it's not the main subject.

Let me explain.
In 1993 a certain man by the name of Jody Davis (this is for those who don't know, more accurately Verja. :P) joined the nb and played for ten years. Then, he left due to his horribly sick daughter who nearly died back in 2001.

Everyone thought he was gone for good, especially considering Jody as a person -- as in, he'd rather live a normal life than one in fame.
But once he left, the nb were stuck with their age-old problem that plagued them in their earlier years -- who was going to fill the guitarist position??

First was Bryan Oleson, the lead for a little band recently renamed VOTA. He stayed for three years before leaving, and being replaced by an old friend of Peter's, Paul Colman. We thought he was going to stick around for a while (though that part maybe just me speaking for myself...).

But then... the bomb of news comes.
Paul's leaving. Paul's not gonna be an offical newsboy anymore.

Well, who's his replacement?

No one could have ever guessed. Everyone thought he wasn't coming back.

But he did.
Jody Davis has returned, and his return comes with many, many mixed emotions.

Hence "The Older I Get" as a blog title. See, I've ended up being engulfed in anger over Paul leaving. And why? To be honest, your guess is as good as mine. I used that song to mainly let that anger out.
God's will is something we can't predict. And it's not always pleasant, even when it's meant to be. And this song mainly forced me to accept that Jody was really back. The logic in this may be way off, but it helped.

Who thought that lyrics like this would help in the way that they did? God works in wondrous ways.

And it makes me wonder...

The older I get,
Will I get over it?

It's been way too long for the times we missed,
I didn't know that it would hurt like this,
But I think
The older I get,
Maybe I'll get over it;
It's been way too long for the times we missed,
I can't believe it still hurts like this.

And I have a question for y'all, too.
How are you coping with the news? (for nb fans onleh. :P)

See? He's happy about it. Or is he...?

Does he even know... or remember??

*GASP!* He doesn't?! Probably because of all the hype on the boards.

And now he's happy! Hurrah!

Happy Phil's-Birthday-Eve! XD
I shall celebrate today by captioning. Because I'm in that kind of mood.

Leg failure in three... two... one...

"Uhm, God? Can I get a hand? Please?"

Little does Paul know... Peter summoned birds... the same birds that "rained" on the nb's parade so long ago in Aussie...

With all the fans and the spotlights gathered 'round/ I started to dance!

Peter never leaves home without his trusty can of silly string. He needs it to protect him from his bandmates.

To quote Soul Skittles, "U speeled beautiful rong." XD

The New Year Lock-In

Hai.
In all my excitement for the new year, I totally forgot about telling y'all about this lock-in.
So here we go.

When we first got there, we saw this little dog running around the garden inbetween the second and third buildings (I might get a picture sometime. ;) ). I wasn't sure where she came from, but she must've belonged to someone inside because someone was looking for her.
When I went in, the gym was populated. I quickly put my stuff down and filled Hannah in via text about what was happening, and other things. Then I noticed the same dog and learned it belonged to one of our youth leaders; I later learned her name was Lilo.
First off, Rusty pulled us all together and we started group games. First was sack races. That one, I managed to bruise up my big toe and cause half my left foot to be sore for the rest of the night. The spoon game I was grateful to sit on the sidelines for. But then there was the third game -- the four-legged race. I hated the three-legged race as is, so this one was nearly murder; I'm glad I wasn't in the middle. :P
Then we broke apart for the most part. I went upstairs and watched as the rest of them were having problems setting up Rock Band. :P And once they had finally set up, I was just about anywhere. As this was happening, Rusty was everywhere, prodding people about being in the talent show -- including me. And then he said something that shocked me... "You're a good singer."
Verja, whenever you get back, I think we made a breakthrough. However, I'm wondering why it took him this long to notice.
Anyway, soon we were all relocated to the youth room -- in the middle building -- for the talent show. By this point, I was seriously considering being a part of it, and some of the others were urging me to do it, too.
At around midnight, we went out and celebrated the new year with fireworks. Or, to be more accurate, roman candles. Very fun. During all this, I tugged Rusty aside and asked him if it was too late and he said no -- which was good. Of course, we ran out of time and I never got the chance. It hurt, but I did get over it.
When we got back, we ate -- mainly lasagna and hot dogs, both of which I hate. So I had to deal with an empty stomach for a little bit, but I didn't really care.
Then we went back into the youth room for a dance-off. However, I didn't participate. Why? Because Hannah was testing her cellphones, and I answered the first test call. :D It was tough to hear her through most of it, because they were pumping the music pretty loud -- and some of the others were trying to get Lilo to do some tricks nearby; quite loudly, I might add. But it was great.
We talked until the building got eerily silent, and I realized they had went back into the other building. So I hung up and went back as well; after telling Hannah via text that the second call came through, they started the group games. First was an awesome that I think was called "Undercover Christian." 'Twas awesome.
The game involves four "cops." Each one was given a slip of paper -- three say "cop," and one says "undercover Christian." The rest of the people are Christians. It was completeleh dark and we had to find a spot to hide in until the undercover Christan invites us to the "church," a random room in the building. But if we get caught by the cops, we had to go to another random room, deemed as the "jail." We couldn't get out of jail until another Christian came and got us. When all the Christians are in jail, they lose -- if they're all in church, they win.
I had an awesome hiding place that was not discovered at all. :) I was quite proud of myself when I wasn't discovered by two "cops" that came in... >:) but that also meant I knew nothing of where the church was, the status of the other Christians, etc. But one thing where I did have an advantage -- I was one room away from where the jail room was. >:D The Christians that were captured were lamenting about how the others were all already in church. They sent the cops down there to see -- that was my chance. Once the last cop left, I sprinted out and caused a jailbreak. :D :D :D
Sure, I got captured, but we quickly got out and went to the church.... the girl's bathroom. :O Yeah, awkward.
Then we played Sardines. I HATE SARDINES. 'Twas too dark! >:(
Then they played the cop game again -- I was starting to get sleepy, so I stayed in the gym and took photos. :P :P
And THEN we played a game involving running around in a big ol' circle and people were starting to drop like flies. That was when we went into groups of girls and guys -- guys went into the youth room, we went into the nursery.
We had fun in there. We played a little game called "Chubby Bunny." That involves stuffing your face with marshmallows and trying to say the phrase "chubby bunny." Everyone was laughing. Then they played "telephone..." a little game that involves whispering a phrase into a neighbor's ear and seeing how it contorts itself. XD
Then they were playing around and I started nodding off for a few seconds every so often. Then we got ambushed. By the guys. With Silly String. O.O That stuff smells terrible; and there was a lot of it at this lock-in. The rest of the time involved cleaning up and leaving. :( Booie.

'Twas great, all in all. And this be a long, long post. I should find a way to reward you, should you read it all. :)
